Zinnia grandiflora
California zinnias are drought-tolerant wildflowers native to arid regions, ideal for xeriscaping and low-maintenance gardens. They produce small, cheerful yellow flowers and thrive in hot, dry conditions.
Planting and Care
Prefers well-draining, sandy or rocky soil. Avoid heavy, water-retentive soils. Sow seeds directly outdoors in late spring after the danger of frost has passed. Press seeds lightly into the soil surface but do not bury deeply, as they need light to germinate.
Maintainance
Deadhead spent flowers to prolong blooming. Avoid overwatering or fertilizing, as these can reduce flowering.
Companion Plants
Combines beautifully with Russian sage, lavender, and black-eyed Susans for a cohesive color palette.
